An update as Igloo turns three

We don’t have to tell you what a strange time we now find ourselves in. As we write this, millions of us are confined to our homes, while all around the UK doctors and nurses battle the biggest medical emergency our nation has faced in recent history.

With the future currently so uncertain we want to take a moment to reassure our customers that we’re here if you need us. You can find out more about the ways we’re supporting you through COVID-19 here

This is not the post we expected to be writing as Igloo celebrates its third birthday and it goes without saying that we wish all our customers good health at this time. We enjoyed meeting so many of you at The Royal County of Berkshire Show and Southampton’s Christmas lights switch-on. We really hope we’ll be seeing you again before long.

For now, if you’ll indulge us, we’d like to focus on a more positive time and share just a few of the things we’re thankful for as Igloo turns three years old

Awards and recognition

From the outset, we’ve strived to give Igloo customers the lowest prices on the market and the tools to better manage their energy use We do this, not to be different, but because we believe UK energy customers and our planet deserve it.

A lovely bi-product is the recognition from industry peers we’ve received along the way, recently the Startups 100 index, which celebrates new UK businesses. Out of the companies that made it into the top 100, Igloo Energy placed second overall, and first in the b2c category, fantastic recognition of the hard work the team has put inWe also recently took home the Energy Innovation Award at Compare The Market’s inaugural Simples Awards, and you might have seen our energy-saving advice featured on Anthea Turner’s Hot Topics (here), as well as in Good Housekeeping Magazine (here).

Lowering bills energy usage

We’re a rare breed at Igloo: an energy supplier that actually wants you to use less energy, but that’s our mission and we’re sticking with it. We are in a position to do something that can help both people and the environment and so last year we launched a new product range to help Igloo customers lower their energy usage and save money

Called Igloo Works, the product range currently includes energy saving technologies such as smart thermostats, air source heat pumps and electric vehicle charging, all designed to help people to use less energy and spend less on their bills.

If you’re interested in the amount of energy you could be saving each month, our team can analyse your usage and recommend the best solutions for reducing your consumption. Click here to speak to a member of our team about our Igloo Works range

Providing industry leading customer service

Being here for our customers when they need us is something we take seriously at Igloo and we’ve continued to expand our customer service team, ensuring that the fast response times were known for don’t slip as our business grows.

This is reflected in our latest Trustpilot and Citizens Advice Customer Service Ratings scores, which currently rank at 4.5 and 4.40 out of 5 respectively. This puts us in the top five of energy suppliers in the UK and ahead of many of the country’s largest energy suppliers (also known as ‘the big six’). In fact, out of 41 energy companies, Citizens Advice rated Igloo 2nd in terms of our customer service performance, an incredible endorsement for our team.

You can find out how the Citizens Advice Customer Service Ratings are reached in our blog announcing the result here

Growing our team and partnerships

As our customers have increased, so too have the employees working behind the scenes at Igloo. In the last year alone, we’ve welcomed more than 100 new employees, but we’re always on the lookout for great people who share our values. If you think this sounds like you, we’d love to have you on board. Take a look at our current job openings here

Back in December, we also announced a new partnership with Osaka Gas who have made an investment of up to £20 million, a hugendorsement of our success to date anmission going forwards. This will help us to develop our range of energy saving products to our customers in the coming years, and we can’t wait to unveil some of the exciting new developments we’ve been working on. More to come on that soon.

And that brings us nicely up to date with the key events of the past year at Igloo. As we move into year four, we’ll be building on the foundations we’ve put in place and working to bring you even more innovative ways to lower your energy usage

We appreciate this might not be at the forefront of your mind right now and as we said at the beginning of this post, we’re here to answer any questions you might have concerning your Igloo Energy account at this time.

We’d like to sign off by thanking you for your support over the past twelve months, and we sincerely hope you all continue to stay safe and well at home.
